UNGARAN, KOMPAS.com - At least eleven Arapaima fish can survive in an artificial lake in the orchard of Sidomuncul, Ungaran, Semarang.
Though far from its natural habitat in the Amazon River, Brazil but one of the species of fresh water fish can live even well-developed due to the good maintenance and organic livestock.
"The first time we observe a 40 centimeters in length, it has been ten years now and reached 2.4 meters and 3.5 meters. I think it’s considered big and rare in Indonesia even the world," says CEO of PT Sidomuncul Pupuk Nusantara (SMPN), Sofyan Hidayat, Sunday (29/11/2015).
That eleventh Arapaima fish was originally all maintained in artificial lake covering an area of 1500 square meters with a depth of about 5 meters. However, due to the large number of visitors and want to see Arapaima fish, Sidomuncul then build a giant aquarium near the Lake.
They moved three of Arapaima fish into big aquarium so that the visitors can see them swimming in the water. Unfortunately, when the removal process one Arapaima die, so the numbers are reduced to ten Arapaima fish.
